Dell laptop notebook motherboard for Latitude, Inspiron, Precision and XPS
Choosing the right Dell
motherboard
Dell laptop motherboards vary from notebook to
notebook. Some can be upgraded while others cannot. When choosing to
replace your motherboard you will want to make sure you do it right the first
time. The buying process begins by identifying the part number that
corresponds to your motherboard. You can find the part number in most Dell
laptops by simply removing the memory cover. The number is in most cases
either directly imprinted on the memory bank or underneath the memory chip on a
bar-coded label. If you do not find it, and if your laptop is able to
power on, go into the BIOS by pressing F2 and locate your service tag
number. Do a search on Dell's site or click here. By
doing a service tag search you will find a list of all the components that were
originally installed in your laptop. In this list you will find the part
number for your motherboard. It is important to note that there may be
several motherboard versions that are compatible with your system. If you
have any doubt as to what part number could be compatible with your Dell laptop,
