Laptops are very convenient to use
because of their portability. We tend to carry it wherever we
go and place them on top of any place where it can sit.
Sometimes we eat, drink and work at the same time and
accidentally spill water, food particles etc. Here are some
tips that were performed from our customers that saved their
laptop:
1. First of all, since water is a
good conductor of electricity, to avoid short circuiting of
components, quickly remove the battery and the power cord from
the laptop. Then followed by the external components like
speakers, mouse, flash drives or any devices that are
connected. Make sure you are properly insulated to be
safe.
2. Flip the laptop upside down to
prevent water from seeping in though most laptops will have
protective panels.
3. Get a lint free cloth to wipe
out the water from between the keys and any spillages you can
find.
4. If the laptop still has
warranty or if the manufacturer allows, certain keyboards are
easily removable. Try to remove it and wipe the spilled water
on the keyboard. If you are not comfortable, you can get
someone's help or better call the technical
support.
5. Once the cleaning and wiping of
all the residue is complete, let the components dry naturally
before assembling them.
6. It is advisable not to use a
hair dryer or dry in the sun. Moderate temperature is required
else it might damage the electrical components.
7. After it is dried completely,
assemble it back, connect battery and power cord and restart
the laptop. If it still do not fix the issue, try with an
external laptop or contact technical support.
These steps works most of the time
however depending on the amount of water
spilled on the keyboard and the internal enclosure of the
components,be aware that it is not a quick fix
guarantee. |
